June 09, 2011

Capital Area Louisiana Technical College, Baton Rouge Automotive Technology Instructor, Martin Duvic, co-authored an Automotive Air Conditioning textbook that has been published. The textbook, Automotive Heating and Air Conditioning, Sixth Edition, is on sale now through the Pearson Higher Education bookstore.

The book is written for undergraduate automotive courses in Automotive Climate Control/Heating and Air Conditioning. It is described by the publisher as:

" Ideal for both novice and advanced technicians, Automotive Heating and Air Conditioning, Sixth Edition, provides a complete, state-of-the-art source on automotive heating, ventilation, and air conditioning systems. Correlated to NATEF and ASE tasks, the text focuses on the generic theory that underlies the operation, diagnosis, and repair of the units and subassemblies found in the many makes and types of vehicles students will likely encounter on the job. Formatted to better meet the learning needs of today's technical trade students, it visually supports concepts covered throughout, and includes many practical shop tips that guide students through important problem-solving procedures they'll use on the job."

After teaching Automotive Technology at the Baton Rouge Campus for more than 12 years, Martin Duvic was offered a proposal he couldn't refuse.  He was invited to co author the sixth edition of Automotive Heating and Air by author Tom Birch.  Mr Birch sought out Mr. Duvic  for his industry experience in automotive air conditioning.. The two gentlemen met at MACS (Mobile Air Conditioning Society) conferences and NACAT (North American Council of Automotive Teachers) conferences.  Maritin immediately agreed to assist Tom with this book. He said that updates on the textbook were needed to better enhance classroom and shop trainning.
